Francine is mother of three and powerfully understands the importance of good nutrition for herself and her young family. Xaverine is mother of five children, and an active member of her cooperative of people living with HIV/AIDS. Elise is HIV-positive with a young son. Both Elise and her husband are on an antiretroviral treatment. Thanks to the support of Amber, Elise is actively learning about and investing in the importance of good nutrition. Didacienne is HIV-positive and she has three children. Until she was given seeds for a home garden thanks to the generosity of Mitch, Didacienne was growing only sorghum and cassava. Now she is pleased to grow many vegetables, including amaranth, carrot, pepper, beets, and swiss chard. Thank you, Mitch, for providing Didacienne and her family with a more balanced diet and a brighter future!

Jacqueline is HIV-positive and has five children, two of whom are also HIV-positive. She works hard to provide nutritious food for her whole family. Thanks to Mitch, Jacqueline will now be planting a home garden. In the future, she hopes expand her garden to animal husbandry–goats, rabbits and chickens. Her favorite food is eggplant! Thanks Mitch for helping Jacqueline get closer to her dreams.

Ventabanda joined her cooperative to work with and be supported by other people who also have HIV. She has a small piece of land on the outskirts of Kigali, and with the assistance and generosity of Mitch, Ventabanda will now be planting a home garden of vegetables and beans. Thank you, Mitch!

Thomas is HIV-positive, but he’s receiving an antiretroviral treatment. He lives with his wife and two children. His favorite vegetables are amaranth, beets and carrots, and his favorite local protein sources are rabbit and chicken. Thanks to Moira, Thomas will now be planting all of his favorite vegetables in his own home garden. He is grateful to be able to provide a more balanced diet for his entire family.

Marciana’s favorite vegetable is local eggplant, which she will now be planting for herself and her four children, thanks to the support of Moira and a generous match from Neil Patel. Thank you, Moira!

Mediatrice lives with her four children.  She is HIV positive has been on antiretroviral treatment for four years. Her favorite vegetable is amaranth, also called dodo, and she feels better when she eats this and other vegetables. Thanks to Moira and a generous match from Neil Patel, she will be planting a home garden with a variety of vegetables, as well as a papaya tree and a moringa tree. Here, Mediatrice is happy for the carrot and beet harvests.
